Hunting Balearean Boc
The oldest remains of the Balearean boc have been dated to 2030 B.C. by archeologists studying the Mediterranean Sea's fauna. These animals are completely wild, and cross-breeding with domestic livestock is the biggest threat to their existence.
Majorca Balearean Boc Hunts
The Majorcan wild goat, which is often referred to as the Balearean boc or Capra hircus var. Majorcan, is a caprid indigenous to Spain's Balearic Islands. The females are slightly smaller than the males, which range in size from 45 to 60 kg and 71 cm at the shoulder. Their coat's primary color is red, with a distinctive black stripe running down the middle of the back and shoulders. Also, the face is black. They carry long, spiraling horns that point backward. They were introduced in Palma de Mallorca Island more than 5000 years ago, coming from Asia.
Mallorca, a Spanish archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea, is the largest of the Balearic Islands, with a land area of 1,405 square miles. The smaller Balearic Islands of Ibiza, Menorca, and Formentera are well-known. Due to its geographic location, Mallorca was a significant commerce hub in the Mediterranean thousands of years ago. Palma de Mallorca serves as both the island's and the Balearic archipelago's capital. Greek colonists are responsible for Mallorca's name. Spanish and Catalan are the official languages.
The Balearic Islands' sole great game species has drawn interest from worldwide hunters, especially those from the United States, where the SCI added it to its list of game species in 2004. In addition, it was approved in 2009 and 2008 by the CIC and the National Board of Trophy Hunting Homologation, respectively.
The only hunting species on the island of Mallorca de Palma is the Balearean Boc, often known as the Mallorcan Wild Goat. This is the only place in the entire world where one can hunt this rare trophy on its home ground. Around 2000 BC, the Phoenicians established the boc as a food source on the island of Mallorca. As a result, they have multiplied, and there are many of them.
Hunting licenses are made available each year for a small number of older pure-blooded Balearic bucks and does. The revenue they generate is utilized to pay for the upkeep of the land and population management. Local outfitters work tirelessly throughout the year to increase the population's "pure-bloodedness" by selectively eliminating hybrids.
The Sierra de Tramuntana Mountains are one of the prime areas to hunt them. From September to May, hunters target this gorgeous species. Most Spanish airports provide flights to the island, and accommodations in the seaside resorts make this a very memorable trip. Now that Safari Club International has acknowledged this distinctive prize, hunters are beginning to visit the islands in increasing numbers. In addition, you can also hunt for some of the many feral goats that live on the island. Hunting for one of Spain's newest and most sought-after species could not be done in a more picturesque location.
It's the ideal location for hunting groups and family vacations, as you can combine hunting with various activities like tourism, fishing, beachcombing, and gastronomy. Especially in the summer, you can hunt in the early morning and late at night and then spend the rest of the day enjoying this amazing island. The hunting region is located 20 minutes from Palma, the island's capital, and 15 minutes from the sea.
Getting To Majorca
Direct flights are provided by American Airlines, United, and Delta from several U.S. airports, including Miami (MIA), New York (JFK), and Los Angeles (LAX). In addition, local airlines provide quick, daily flights from Barcelona and Madrid to Ibiza, Menorca, and the Palma de Mallorca Airport, Spain's third-largest airport. From Ibiza, Formentera is only reachable by boat.
Ferry Balearia and Trasmediterránea, two significant ferry companies, run daily overnight ferries to Mallorca, Menorca, and Ibiza from Barcelona, Valencia, and Dénia. The Ferry Balearia and Transmapi lines connect Ibiza and Formentera.
Argentina Balearean Boc Hunts
Balearean Boc is on offer in the Patagonia Region of Argentina from a number of outfitters. It is usually hunted in conjunction with other animals, not as a stand-alone hunt. But for an authentic Balearean boc hunt experience, you should go to the Balearian Archipelago.
