The Free-range Red Stag Hunting Area

This hunt for free-range trophy red stag takes place in La Pampa Province near the town of Queue. You will hunt on a privately owned 15,000-acre ranch that has the perfect habitat for red stags.  Red stag was introduced in this area at the beginning of the previous century and have adapted and thrived in the region ever since. The outfitter only takes 4 groups per year, so the area is not over-hunted.

The Free-Range Red Stag Hunt

This hunt can be done with a firearm, a bow or a crossbow. This hunt is done by stalking and will begin very early in the morning before dawn. Your day will start with an American style breakfast. Then you will transfer by truck to the hunting area (10-15 minute drive). You will get into a position to listen for a stags’ roar.  Once you have located an animal, you will stalk on foot to approach the stag to assess its trophy potential. Around noon you will return to the lodge to enjoy snacks and lunch and rest for a short break.  Then you will return to the hunting grounds around 4:00 p.m.and start listening for a suitable stag again. The day's hunt will end at sunset.

This hunt is primarily a free-range red stag hunt. If you want to hunt other species while you are in Argentina, the outfitter has an Estate hunting area with another 5-star lodge a couple of hours away. Both lodges are typically booked full during the roar, so he can not transport hunters between areas.You will be able to hunt a similar sized stag from his Estate lodge if other animals are part of your plans.

The Free-Range Red Stag Hunting Lodge

The 5-Star lodge is located near the hunting area. The lodge has private double rooms with each having a private bath. These hunts are set up for dual occupancy in the rooms.  Private rooms will incur a $100 / Day supplement. The lodge also features a pool. The lodge features a comfortable dining room and a fireplace near the lagoon where the hunters gather after dinner to relax and enjoy an after-dinner drink.  Laundry service is included and the lodge has internet service. All services to the hunters are fully catered.

Weather

The Province of La Pampa has a wide array of weather conditions. In the summer months (Dec 21st – March 20th) temperatures can get above 35ºF. In fall (March 21st – June 20th) the temperature is still a warm 95ºF along the day, descending to 45°C in the evening, which makes this month one of the hunters’ favorite times to come over. In winter (June 21st – Sep 20th) temperatures are around 40°F in the morning and 45ºF during the rest of the day. The temperature in spring (Sep 21st – Dec 20th) is a bit more variable, with a maximum of about 68°C throughout the day, falling to 54°F at evening.

Firearms Regulations / Rentals

Argentina has fairly simple firearms importation procedures.  The outfitter will assist you in getting the correct permits to facilitate your international arrival.  You can take up to 3 rifles with you.

Trophy Preparation and Shipping

Your trophy will be caped, boiled and salted at the camp. Your trophies will then be delicvered to the shipping company (Alfred Perez Company), who will handle the paperwork and shipping.  Shipping costs vary by destination. The outfitter will try to combine shiments to reduce costs when possible.

Recommended Tips: $50 USD a day for the guide and $200USD / guest for the lodge staff. (Total - $450)

Getting There

Hunters will fly into Buenos Aires where they will be met by the outfitter's staff.  As most flights arrive in the morning, and the flights to Santa Rosa are in the evening, You will most likely need to spend the day in Buenos Aires. The meet and Greet service costs around $30 US. They have an arrangement with a local boutuique hotel in the tourist area where you can rent a room for the day to store your luggale and take a shower.  If there is a group of you you can share the cost, which is about $200.  If you just want to leave your luggage there, arrangements can also be made.  A transportation service will take you to the domestic airport to catch your flight to Santa Rosa. (Cost + $20). Once you arrive in Santa Rosa, the outfitter will meet you and drive you to the lodge.

Your return flight will be in the evening of your last day's hunt, so you will likely need to overnight at the hotel in Buenos Aires. Expect the same costs on the way out that you incurred on the way in. Then you will be transported the following morning to the international airport to take your flight home.

Deposit Policy: Deposits are $1,000 per hunter and $250 per observer to secure dates.  The balance of the package is due to the outfitter 45 days prior to the hunt and may be paid to a US Bank.  Any additional charges are due in US cash or by bank wire prior to departing from camp.

Cancellation Policy:  Deposits are non-refundable.  Hunts may only be rescheduled at the outfitter’s discretion. Any changes or rescheduling are subject to a $150 Administration Fee payable to the agent at the time the hunts are rescheduled.

Exclusions:  Airfare, Gratuities, Hunting License ($250),Trophy Tag per animal ($80), Rifle Rental and Ammunuition, Before and After Hunt Accommodations, Taxidermy, Shipping of Trophies, Meet and Greet and airport transfer fees (approximately $50 each way), Private room supplement of $100 / Day
