This hunt puts you square in the heart of the Red Stag domain of Argentina. This province is the original source of the stag population in Argentina and holds some of the most prized Red Stag in the country! You’ll stay at the outfitter’s 4-star lodge while hunting one of the largest land animals in Argentina!
About the Red Stag:
The Red Stag (Cervus elaphus) was introduced to Argentina over a hundred years ago, first arriving in the province of La Pampa. From there, it was gradually brought into the southern region of Patagonia, where it quickly adapted and thrived. Known for its striking antlers and impressive size, the red stag has become one of the most iconic big game animals in the country. The rut lasts 6-8 weeks, giving hunters plenty of chances to spot and pursue these magnificent animals, which are often visible from a long distance thanks to their size and vocal behavior during the rut.
As the fourth-largest deer species in the world, the red stag stands out both in stature and presence. Males, commonly called stags or harts, typically measure between 69 to 98 inches in length and weigh between 350 to 530 lb. Females are smaller, ranging from 63 to 83 inches and weighing 260 to 370 lb. With a shoulder height of about 37 to 51 inches and a tail adding another 5 to 8 inches, the red stag is an imposing beast and truly a remarkable sight in the wild landscapes of Argentina. This package includes a red stag up to 300" SCI. Upgrade costs are as follows:

Free-Range Red Stag Hunting Area and Terrain in Argentina:
This hunt takes place on a free-range concession that covers 5,486 acres in the La Pampa province of Argentina. This hunting area is fully private to the outfitter, so you won’t need to worry about coming across other hunters or guides here! Right next to this 5,500-acre free-range property, there is a high fence 470-acre farm that is also fully private and exclusively hunted by this outfitter. The terrain here consists of lots of flat land, with some soft rolling hills and thick bushes. Traversing the terrain isn’t too challenging here.
Free-Range Red Stag Hunting Seasons:
This hunt for free-range red stag in Argentina is only available from March 15th through April 15th. The most exciting time to book this hunt is before April 6th, as this is when the Red Stag rut starts to end. Hunting during the rut means hunting by sound - you’ll listen for the distinct roar made by these animals and carefully stalk the sound until you see and can get a clear shot on them! Hunting by this method often means close shots and quick thinking!
About the Free-Range Red Stag Outfitter:
This outfitter is a well-established professional in Argentina’s hunting scene. They have over 20 years in the game, providing high-end, sophisticated hunting adventures to clients who want to experience the thrill of hunting Argentina. They are well-organized, efficient, and are passionate about ensuring you have a great, relaxing time and get a big animal! Their hospitality is superb, as their lodges are luxurious and comfortable, the meals you’ll enjoy are excellent, and the wines and drinks they serve are top-notch. Whether you’re in the field or in camp, they work to go above and beyond to make you feel at home and relaxed.
Free-Range Red Stag Hunting Lodge:
You will be staying at the outfitter's 4-star lodge at the concession. There are 6 rooms here, each with an en-suite bathroom. It is a very cozy lodge and is quite nicely appointed.
The lodge has a traditional Spanish look and feel. The communal area inside has the bar, dining area, and living space, with the outside having a fire pit and sitting area. Meals here are excellent, and menus are based around game hunted there on the ranch. Internet service is available while in camp.
A Typical Day Hunting Free Range Red Stag in Argentina:
A typical day hunting free-range red stag in Argentina starts early, usually before the sun comes up. You’ll grab a coffee and a light breakfast at the lodge, then head out into the field under the cover of darkness. You will head to different locations to glass for trophies as the sun rises and the landscape lights up. If you’re hunting during the rut, you’ll start to hear the unmistakable roar of red stags echoing through the hills. It’s an unforgettable sound that gets your heart racing every time.
The morning is the prime time to spot (or hear) a trophy stag. You’ll be using binoculars or a spotting scope to scan open valleys, ridgelines, and brushy areas where the stags like to hang out. Once a solid trophy is located, the real challenge begins: the stalk. Depending on where the animal is, you might spend a couple of hours slowly and quietly closing the distance, always paying attention to the wind and the terrain. It’s not unusual to crawl the last few yards into position. Patience is key here, and your PH will be able to give you the expert advice needed to get a clear shot on one!
Around midday, things tend to slow down. The deer bed down, and you’ll usually head back to camp for lunch and a break. In the afternoon, you’re back out again, either following up on a stag spotted earlier or glassing new areas. The evening can be just as active as the morning, especially as temperatures cool and stags begin to move again. With the sun dipping low, you’ll have one last chance to make something happen before calling it a day and heading back to camp. There, you can expect an excellent meal paired with a glass of Malbec, where you and your PH will share stories from the day and plan for the hunt tomorrow!
Other Available Animals:
This lodge is situated on two concessions, the 5,500-acre free-range area and a nearly 500-acre high fence concession. Other trophies available here include blackbuck, antelope, wild boar, water buffalo, and axis deer.
Trophy Care and Shipping:
The outfitter will take care of the primary preparation of the trophy.
They will first remove flesh from the skull to prepare it. They then boil and clean the skull before transferring it to the broker that will handle the exportation.
If you choose to export the cape, the outfitter will also prepare and clean the cape before transferring it to the export broker.
Rental Rifle:
Rifle rental is $300 for the hunt and includes one box of ammunition. The outfitter highly recommends using the rental rifles rather than dealing with rifle importation through customs.
The outfitter has Mauser, Winchester, Sabatti, and Zastava rifles for rent.
If you do bring your own rifle, a .300 or above is recommended.
Getting There:
You’ll first fly into Buenos Aires to Ministro Pistarini Airport (EZE). From there, you will have to change airports to Aeroparque (AEP). At least 4 hours between flights are needed, due to traffic delays. Ground transportation in Buenos Aires will be organized for you to make airport transfers easy.
Once at AEP, you’ll take a flight to Santa Rosa (RSA). Right now, only 1 airline operates out of Santa Rosa Airport (RSA): Aerolineas Argentinas. Private charters from Buenos Aires to La Pampa are also available; inquire for these pricing options. Once you arrive at Santa Rosa airport, the outfitter will be there to meet you and begin the ground trip to the lodge. From the airport, it is a 1 ½ hour drive to the hunting lodge.
Deposit and Payment Policy:
A 50% deposit is due to book this hunt. Full balance must be paid either by wire transfer, credit card, or check 60 days before arrival.
Cancellation Policy:
Deposits are non-refundable. The outfitter may allow a safari to be rescheduled once, if requested a minimum of 90 days in advance of the start of the safari at the sole discretion of the outfitter. Rescheduling a hunt for the subsequent year is subject to that year's price list. Any rescheduled safaris are subject to a $150 administration fee to be paid directly to the booking agent. If you are unable to make the trip, you may give or sell it to someone else for the same dates, and you are responsible for notifying your agent of the change. Travel insurance can be obtained to cover unexpected illnesses. A Travel Policy is strongly recommended when traveling to remote areas in foreign countries.
Exclusions: International and domestic airfare, firearm importation costs, rifle rental with ammunition, trophy fee over 300" SCI, laundry, shipment of trophies to taxidermist, taxidermy, international shipping of trophies, insurance, hunting license, gratuities.
